Required Reading: The Omnivore’s Dilemma

You could call this my Bible

I can’t really get this blog going without first thanking Michael Pollan for writing The Omnivore’s Dillemma.  I’ll expand more on this later, but it’s basically thanks to him that I became inspired to help change the way people eat in this country.

Have you failed to read this game-changing treatise on the state of food in the U.S.?

If so — stop what you’re doing immediately. Amazon this book, download it on your kindle, pick it up the library, whatever.  If you are at all interested in what has driven us to our current eating habits, this is the best, most thorough introduction you will find.

Plus Pollan has a very approachable writing style and presents complicated research in a very simple and entertaining way, taking us on adventures around the country in order to illustrate, say, how corn is using us as part of it’s sinister plan to take over the world.

Yea, you could say I’ve got a bit of a nerd crush
